Author Guidelines

Makhdoom Journal of Islamic Studies (MJIS) - Author Guidelines

All submissions are double-blind peer reviewed.

1. AIMS AND SCOPE
Quranic Studies, Hadith, Fiqh & Usul al-Fiqh, Aqidah, Islamic History, Islamic Thought, Islamic Education, Arabic Language.

2. MANUSCRIPT FORMAT & SPACING
File: MS Word .docx only.

English Text: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, justified.
Arabic Text: Traditional Arabic or Amiri or Scheherazade New, 14 pt to 16 pt, 1.5 line spacing, RTL direction.
Footnotes: Times New Roman 10 pt, 1.0 spacing.
Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

For Quranic verses: Arabic text in Traditional Arabic 16 pt + translation in brackets + surah:verse in footnote.

3. WORD LIMIT
4000-8000 words, including abstract and references.

4. STRUCTURE
Title > Abstract (150-250 words in English, plus Arabic abstract if the article is in Arabic) > Keywords (3-5) > Introduction > Literature Review > Methodology > Discussion > Conclusion > References.

5. REFERENCES
Use APA 7th or Chicago Footnote Style. Be consistent. Add DOI/URL where available.
Example (English): Al-Ghazali, A. H. (2010). Ihya Ulum al-Din. Dar al-Minhaj.
Example (Arabic): ابن خلدون، عبد الرحمن (2004). المقدمة. دار الفكر، بيروت.

6. SUBMISSION FILES
a) Title Page (separate): Name, Affiliation, ORCID, Email, Short Bio.
b) Main Manuscript: Fully anonymized, no author name inside.

7. ETHICS
Original work only, not published elsewhere, plagiarism below 15%. Permission required for photos/datasets.

8. REVIEW & FEES
Double-blind review, 4-8 weeks. FREE—No APC. Open Access by IRITAQ.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.docx) document file format.
  • Where available, URLs and DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is 1.5 spaced, uses a 12-point Times New Roman font for English and 14-16pt Traditional Arabic/Amiri font for Arabic text, and employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses).
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Plagiarism is below 15%, and a separate title page with author details (name, affiliation, ORCID, and email) is included. The main manuscript is anonymized for double-blind peer review.
  • All authors have given consent and have obtained permission for any third-party material (photos, datasets, etc.).

Research Articles

This section publishes original, peer-reviewed research contributions in Islamic studies and allied fields. 

Review Articles

This section includes critical review articles summarizing current literature. 

Book Reviews

This section publishes reviews of recent books in Islamic Studies

2. Use of Data: Author personal data such as affiliation, ORCID, and contact details will be published as part of the article metadata for indexing purposes (Google Scholar, Crossref, DOAJ).

3. Cookies: This journal uses cookies only to manage user sessions and for website statistics. No personal data is shared with third parties.
